Andrew Lloyd Webber is set to bring a brand-new musical to the stage: The Illusionist. Loosely based on Steven Millhauser’s short story Eisenheim the Illusionist—which also inspired the acclaimed 2006 film—this adaptation will transport audiences into a world of mystery, romance, and breathtaking stage magic.

A Stellar Creative Team

Andrew Lloyd Webber has assembled an extraordinary team for this new project, bringing together new and familiar creative voices. Following the success of the re-imagined Starlight Express in London and the widely acclaimed Sunset Boulevard, Michael Harrison is set to produce the piece collaborating under Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, continuing their longstanding partnership.

Joining them as Director is Jamie Lloyd who is known for his bold and visually striking productions and who recently helmed the award-winning revival of Sunset Boulevard.

Chris Terrio, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Argo and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will write the book, marking his debut in musical theatre. While, Bruno Major, the singer-songwriter whose poetic storytelling has captivated audiences, will provide the lyrics.

The Story

Set in turn-of-the-century Vienna, The Illusionist follows Eisenheim, a mesmerizing magician whose performances blur the line between reality and illusion. When he rekindles a forbidden romance with his childhood love, now engaged to a powerful man, he finds himself entangled in a dangerous battle of love, power, and deception.
